The Towers Scholarship Programme
The Towers scholarship provision aims to celebrate outstanding academic, creative and sporting achievement and service to the wider community. Scholarships are offered for pupils starting in Year 7 and Year 9 and are designed to give girls a sense of their own worth and ability, while providing them with the opportunity to develop their gifts and talents for their own benefit and, as importantly, for the benefit of others.
Several scholarships, entitling the recipients to a 10% basic fee reduction, are awarded to Year 7 and 9 pupils. Our scholarship programme recognises high achieving and talented individuals, who excel in specific fields, for example, academic work, music, sport, art or drama, and who would benefit from financial assistance towards a first class education. Girls who are awarded scholarships are expected to complete their education up to GCSE at The Towers. If scholarships are not awarded in a particular year this will be due to candidates not meeting in full the required standards. The school reserves the right not to award scholarships in a given year where this is the case.
In addition to a fee reduction, the scholar receives support in their area of particular talent from a teacher at The Towers. In return for scholarships, girls are expected to act as role models to their peers and contribute to the wider life of the school, thus fostering a love of learning and commitment to service. Our scholars contribute something unique to our school, and lead by example. The scholarships will be tenable throughout the scholar’s time at The Towers, subject to certain conditions.
Scholarships are awarded on merit and are not means-tested. Pupils;
- May only apply for 2 scholarships and may not hold more than one.
- Who are already in receipt of financial assistance from The Towers may apply for a scholarship but will only be able to hold an Honorary Scholarship, recognising their talent and including them in the Scholarship Programme, but not attracting a reduction in fees.
These are given to the highest achievers in the entrance tests for Year 7 and 9. Parents, whose daughters are applying for an Academic Scholarship, are asked to contact the school office to enrol them for the tests.
