Weekly Sports Report
Our Sports Day, on Monday, culminated in More House winning overall after a full day of swimming, rounder’s, tennis and athletics events for everyone from Reception to Year 10.
On Tuesday, Year 7 played Sion in the semi-finals of the rounder’s league. Although they played extremely well with Harriet, Lily and Amelie scoring whole rounder’s and gaining a score of 5 ½ rounder’s after 21 good balls, Sion scored 7 rounder’s in total. Consequently, The Towers went through to the 3rd and 4th playoff against Durrington School. With rounder’s from Ellena, Iyana and Harriet the team scored 4 ½ rounder’s. We drew this game, which put us in joint third place out of 13 teams – a great achievement.
On Wednesday, some of the Year 7 and 8 were chosen to attend a cricket festival at Shoreham Academy, where they received coaching followed by a friendly tournament against other local schools. Year 8 came 3rd and the Year 7 came 7th. This was a great introduction into cricket.
After school on Wednesday, the Year 4 competed in a number of athletics events, running, jumping and throwing against other locals schools in our cluster area. It was a non-competitive experience for them and a great opportunity. The girls really enjoyed it and did so well, showing true Towers commitment and teamwork.
On Thursday, Year 9 played a rounder’s match against Brighton and Hove High School. The girls played extremely well and beat them in both innings of 10 minutes, even with some tough umpiring.
