On a very sunny Saturday afternoon in June, a group of Towers girls headed to the Brighton Amex stadium to watch England women’s football team play New Zealand in a warm-up match before The World Cup. We had great seats three rows back, right behind the goal.
The atmosphere was electric with just over 20 thousand excited spectators. We got there early enough to see both teams warm up and the parade of the national flags.
England had the main possession of the ball throughout the first half but were unable to score leading to a nil-nil score at half time. In the second half, England had many opportunities and looked like they were going to score but half way through the second half New Zealand found some space and scored. Although England lost, the girls seemed to have a great day and it was a brilliant experience.
