The week started off with several fixture changes due to the weather.
Tuesday saw the start of the U12 and U13 netball league, which got off to a great start with the U12 team winning against Shoreham Academy, achieving 14-1, their best score all season. The U13 B team also won (9-6) Shoreham academy. A great start to the week.
On Wednesday afternoon, we hosted the U11 High 5 netball tournament for the Chanctonbury schools. Eight teams played each other in a round robin pool. The Towers purple team, with mainly U10 players, came 8th, The Towers yellow team (a mix of U10/U11 players) came joint 5th and The Towers red team won the tournament.
Thursday afternoon saw Year 4’s first competitive game against Seaford College. The girls were very excited and worked very hard even in the terrible rain. By the final whistle the score was 7-2, which was a creditable score given the weather conditions.
While the Year 4 game was happening at home, 12 girls from Year 6, 7 and 8 went to Christ’s Hospital for the Sussex Schools Athletics Association cross-country event, cleverly avoiding the rain. Our top runners in each year group were Emily O in Year 6, Katie O in Year 7 and Caitlin in Year 8. All girls showed commitment and determination by completing the course in very muddy conditions.
On Friday afternoon, the Year 10 netball team left for the weekend to participate in the netball weekend at PGL in Liddington, Swindon. The girls played their heart out and did The Towers very proud. The competition was hard but was a great experience for them all. We did not get through to the semi-finals but it was close. The girls met Eboni Chambers who plays for England Netball and Team Bath in the netball Super league.
let’s look forward to a slightly warmer and drier next half term.
