Weekly match report – 11th March
The last couple of weeks has been quite disrupted with rain and wind.
Wednesday was a busy day though and it was pleasing that all fixtures went ahead. A year 6 team went to Horsham Pavilion for the Sussex primary Schools team championships where there was a large number of schools from all over Sussex. The girls competed in two relay events the 4 x 25m mixed stroke and the 4 x 25m freestyle. The girls came 5th in the 4x25m freestyle relay, which was a great achievement against so many schools.
At home the U10 and U11 played against Dorset House, who unfortunately won but the Towers girls stayed in high spirts and tried really hard.
That following afternoon the U11s had another match, as well as the U12 and U13s against Windlesham House, where unfortunately we lost but again so great games we were just unable to take control on the game and get it in the goals.
The results from last week’s ISA Cross country event were released this week and two of the Towers girls go through to the National Championships later on in March, Madelaine in year 11 and Bea in Year 9 and Isabelle in year 9 is the first reserve.
Weekly Sports Report – 18th March
A really great week for sport this week and such great commitment from all the Towers girls with 13 netball matches in two nights.
On Tuesday, three teams played away the Year 7 and 8 Netball League. Year 7 played two games, first losing to Rock Road Steyning A but the winning convincingly against Rock Road Steyning B 8-1. Year 8 A team played firstly against Shoreham Academy A and won 20-0 and then won against Church Street Steyning 23-9. Year 8 B team played Rock Road and Shoreham A although they unfortunately were unable to take lead and win.
On the same night at home, Year 9 and 10 played netball against Burgess Hill Girls. Years 10 had a great game and maintained their lead throughout, winning 25-17 and Year 9 had a goal for goal game where neither team could break each other’s centre but unfortunately they lost by two goals in in the last few minutes.
Wednesday was equally as busy, with 5 games, starting with Year 5 and 6 at home against Seaford College. Years 6 had a great game winning 14-9 and were the stronger team throughout. Year 5 also had a great game drawing 9-9 – a great result for them.
After school Year 9, 10 and 11 played away against Christ Hospital. After a hard fought match Year 9 worked a miracle and won 23-19. Year 10’s game was just as close, until the very end when they lost by one goal. It was the last Year 11 game as Towers girls and they did the school proud and played brilliantly winning 26-16 with the support of Lily and Caitlin in Year 8.
A big well done to all the netball girls this week and throughout the term, only one week left of netball fixtures, but another busy one next week.
