It was the penultimate week and was a busy one. On Tuesday evening the U14s went to Davison School for the U14s rounder tournament where they played 6 teams. They won 4 consecutive games and only losing two very narrowly, resulting in them coming third overall. There were some great catches from Darcey, Chiara, Olivia and Maddie. Chiara, Meghan, Isabelle, Darcey and Meghan gave a great performance as they only had eight players due to late drop out.

Wednesday afternoon was House rounders’ for the junior’s year 3, 4, 5 and 6 where Campion house came 1st. Later that afternoon the U12 and U13s rounders’ team had an away match against Farlington School. The U13s found Farlington a tough team to beat and after the first inning of 27 good ball’s it was Farlington 3, The Towers 1. Farlington scored a further three rounders’ in the second inning and The Towers only scored one and half in the second inning. They were unable to get past third due to Farlington’s fielding at that post. It was a very even game and low scoring with 54 good balls for each team. Some great bowling by Amelie and catches by Lily and Isabelle M.  Bea and Taylor were voted players of the game.

The U12s did well against Farlington and after the first inning The Towers were winning seven and half to four rounders. The team worked well thanks to three year 6s that stepped up to play. In the second inning The Towers were in control of the game and scored a further four and a half rounders. Farlington only scored four rounders, resulting in Towers winning by twelve rounders’ to eight. Chiara R and Flo were voted players of the game.

On Thursday the year 8’s got through to the rounders league finals as they came second in the east pool. A round robin tournament was played against the other qualifying teams. They first played Durrington School. It was a close first inning with both teams scoring three and a half rounders each. Durrington took the clear lead in the second inning scoring a further nine rounders and The Towers lost their confidence scoring only a further 3, losing 6-12 to Durrington. It was still all to play for against Angmering School. A very tight game but The Towers worked well together and won six and half to five and half. As a result of losing one and winning one, The Towers came 2nd overall in the rounders league 2019.

While the U13 finals took place, the U14 and U15 rounders teams played against Farlington School. The U14s played extremely well despite only eight players only losing by one and half rounders to Farlington. Chiara B and Abi being voted players of the game. The U15s got off to a good start and continued to play extremely well, winning nineteen and half to four and a half after two innings. April and Lottie were voted players of the game.

A great week and only one week left where we still have many fixtures.
