March 2019 – Year 10 PGL Netball trip – Liddington, Swindon.
The Year 10 netball team spent the weekend of 1st, 2nd and 3rd March at a PGL centre in Liddington. Their tournament on Saturday afternoon, gave them time in the morning to experience all the outdoor extreme activities, zip wire, high ropes, vertical jump, climbing wall and many more, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Then in the afternoon things became more serious, as they had four important netball games to play. Their first game was against Parkland Academy, which they won 5-2. They also won their second game against Joyce Frankland Academy 14-12. This was a close and very exciting game, with 26 goals in just 16 minutes. Sadly, the girls lost the last two games, which were tough, but two wins and two losses was a good result.
On Sunday morning they played two more games with the aim of getting through to the semi-finals. It was raining heavily and conditions were far from ideal, but the girls continued to work hard. They drew their first game 5-5 against Chislehurst and Sidcup School and lost their last game by just one goal, 6-5. Overall The Towers cam 6th out of 10 schools.
The girls played their hearts out and did The Towers very proud. The competition was hard but the whole weekend was a great experience for them all, providing them with lots of laughs. The girls were lucky enough to meet Eboni Beckford-Chambers, who plays for England Netball and Team Bath in the Netball Super League.
